OUR CAMPS
Our camps, although varied in their philosophies and concepts, are all rustic and blend in perfect harmony with their surroundings with a complete eco-friendly approach. Kichaka prides itself in operating in tough, remote and wild areas where the main emphasis is on the bush itself instead of opulent extravagance. Nonetheless, even out here all the necessary luxuries are fully catered for by way of our small and intimate bush camps mixing the right amount of wild adventure with a secluded and truly authentic safari getaway.
From the back-to-basics nature of our flycamp to the more sophisticated luxury of our permanent tented camp you will never be more than a stone's throw away from a steaming hot shower with stunning scenic views, a comfortable bed to retire in after a hard day, friendly hosts, good food and most importantly, ice-filled Gin and Tonics to welcome in the starry nights.
Where to Stay
LUXURY & COMFORT IN THE HEART OF WILDERNESS
Our newest and most luxurious product, this permanent tented camp has now become the main base of Kichaka Expeditions operations.
Situated atop a remote ridge in the Eastern Corner of Ruaha, this stunning and luxurious camp blends in perfectly with its rocky backdrop overlooking perhaps the most scenic section of the entire Ruaha River valley.
About as comfortable as it is possible to get in such isolation, our elegant yet rustic rooms share sweeping views and are the perfect dwelling away from the hot sun when not out on safari. Each room consists of a central airy and spacious tent with thatched roof and raised platform base, open in the day to allow for views and breeze, but closed in the night for safety and complete bug protection. Adjoining each tent sits a lavish bathroom complete with flushing loo, bathtub and outdoor shower and because there is never too many options on how one can refresh oneself, on the other side of the tent is your own personal plunge pool for that instant gratification after your morning activities.
The privacy and seclusion of the rooms contrast beautifully with the social feel and set-up of the main area. Essentially the heart of the camp, this is where all activity meets happen, scrumptious meals are consumed, stories and adventures regaled and of course gin & tonics imbibed. Split into 3 sections, a relaxed lounge with comfy sofas with an information centre where you can admire the views or read a book with a cup of tea. A dedicated dining room where you can enjoy an excellent and varied menu of cuisine prepared by our chefs and finally a central and well stocked “Star-Bar” to chat by the fire or admire the tremendous night sky.
Let our team of excellent hosts, knowledgable and experienced guides and friendly staff pave the way for an unforgettable safari experience in one of Africa’s greatest Natural wonders.

FLYCAMPING
Perhaps the most raw and traditional way to enhance any safari experience. Mobility is the key here, our well designed and lightweight flycamp allows for a few days foray into the really wild sections of Ruaha Park, it can be erected within a few hours and allows us to drift deeper into the Wilderness once we have familiarized ourselves with the areas around Zumbua camp.
Kichaka Untamed easily opens up fresh walking and exploration areas without the need to travel big distances several times daily to return to our Zumbua camp. Simple and basic yet perfectly comfortable, the flycamp can accommodate 6 guests in 3 tents each with adjoining private bucket showers and toilets. Travel cots ensure a good nights sleep, waking only for the night sounds before a full days exploration. With a feel of complete informality, meals will be fresh prepared on the camp fire itself while you nurse a cold beer and contemplate the next days activities.

EXPEDITIONS
Kichaka Wild, a 7 night expedition into the outer fringes of Ruaha National Park, is the most unique way to discover the beauty and diversity of this truly wild eco-system. Known for its immense wilderness and vast diversity Ruaha has endless opportunities to explore remote areas that even some park rangers have yet to venture into.
Personally led by Andrew Molinaro, Kichaka Wild provides the perfect opportunity for adventure enthusiasts who want to experience what it feels like to be a modern day explorer. From climbing the gigantic Kopjes of Mpululu to roaming through the tranquil forests of Kilola Star you will be uncovering Ruaha’s hidden gems in some of the last true wildernesses left on this planet.

Typically set up along the banks of rivers or nestled into the nearby forests, the camp consists of 3 dome tents each with its own bucket shower and short-drop loo for privacy. Activities will mainly be centred around walking safaris, however game drives, and night drives will be on offer to help you enjoy these new areas to their fullest.

Each expedition is booked on a private basis and is customised to the clients specific interests. Kichaka Wild offers 4 remote locations guests can chose from.
